Do you ever leave your newborn in another room without a Baby monitor?

Do any new mothers out there ever leave their baby in another room without a Baby Monitor? I am not a mother, but I heard that someone else did this and I dont’ think that I would ever do this. I wanted to know if it would just be me being overprotective or do a lot of mothers do this?

As long as I am in a room where I can hear her then No I do not turn it on. My house is pretty open so I can pretty much here her most places. I do carry the monitor with me when I go to the bathroom or shower and she is asleep.
